We are ‘at home’ every Tuesday from 9.00-10.30am at Hillfields Church, Waterloo St. Coventry, CV1 5JS. (Although we do have a short break during school holidays). This group is called Circle of Friends. Around 130 people come each week to have some breakfast and collect food, clothes, shoes, household furnishings, bedding, kitchenware and baby equipment.
(Getting to the Church: The Church is easily accessed on foot, being situated on the corner of Waterloo Street and King William Street. But Waterloo Street has been closed off at this junction and you can only access it by car by turning off King William Street into Wellington Street, left into Yardley Street, then left into Waterloo Street. The Church is situated at the top of this cul-de-sac.)
We run a Furniture Project, collecting items no longer needed by the wider public; and passing them on to families who do need them.
We run a rolling programme of training courses for new volunteers.
We deliver Baby Bags to all expectant mums with everything that they need for their hospital stay, so that they can go into hospital with pride and dignity, alongside the other mums on the ward. We also provide all the equipment needed for a new baby.
We home visit all new families and take them a Welcome to Coventry Bag, so we can introduce them to our services and assess those families who need us most.
We run Let’s Play a “Learning-to-Speak-English-Together-through-Play group” for parents and toddlers on Wednesday mornings between 9.15 – 11.15am at Hillfields Church.
We deliver Toy Bags to children who have none.
We provide a school uniform distribution scheme.
We deliver Emergency Packs to people moving into an empty property, containing something to cook on, something to sleep on, something to sit on, pots and pans, cutlery, crockery, bedding etc.
At Christmas we distribute Christmas-Dinner-in-a-Bag to families whose Christmas would be joy-less without.
We provide Christmas presents for all ages.
We like to have visitors, so please feel free to drop in and see us. This is the best way to understand more about us.
The volunteers love their photos being taken, our visitors are just a bit shy!
We also have a nearby furniture store. Everything we have is given away. We also have a long waiting list for fridges washing machines, tumble driers etc
